Celebrating Sunflowers

  Hello, Stampers!

Today's card features Stampin' Up!'s Celebrate Sunflowers. With all that is going on in Ukraine, I thought I might join in and make a card using their country's colors and flower, the sunflower. If you can donate to the plight of the people of Ukraine, I suggest it. There are so many places you can contribute but I don't feel comfortable posting any find one you trust, and do what your heart leads.

Don't forget to enter the host code below when you order!

Here is the card I made:

 What I Used:

  • Celebrate Sunflowers
  • Whisper White Cardstock 8 1/2 x 11 cut at 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4
  • Balmy Blue 4 x 5 1/4
  • White watercolor pencil or white craft ink pad
  • Mango Medley marker or ink pad
  • Granny Apple Green marker or ink pad
What I Did:
  1. Gather supplies needed from above.
  2. Cut layers as measured above
  3. Using typing paper or thin paper, create a mask of the sunflower by stamping it and cutting it out carefully just inside the lines.
  4. Stamp the big sunflower on the Balmy Blue paper with the Balmy Blue ink pad. When you mask be sure that some of the lines from the image show so it doesn't leave a weird blank space.
  5. Color the stamped image with a white watercolor pencil. If you do not have a watercolor pencil you can use a water pen or paintbrush with a little water and whitewash the flower image.
  6. On a clear block or non-porous surface scribble Mango Medley (If you do not have the marker, press down a Mango Medley ink pad onto the block).
  7. Once the whitewash is dry (if using a watercolor pencil there is no drying time) use the water pen to color over the image. I just basically traced the dark lines with the color. Be careful not to add too much water.
  8. Once it is dry you may want to go in with either the color or the whitewash to highlight/correct/enhance sections.
  9. Complete the process with the leaves and the center of the flower.
  10. Adhere the card together with glue or Stampin dimensionals.
  11. Once the front of the card is completed stamp a coordinating image on the inside of the card and an envelope.
Have Fun!!!
